SCHODACK, N.Y. - The Schodack Police Department has arrested the driver in a hit-and-run accident that injured a 17-year-old earlier this week.
Police in the town of Schodack say the accident occurred around 9 p.m. Tuesday night when a 17-year-old male and his friend were walking on Scott Avenue just east of the Village of Castleton when a vehicle struck the teenage boy and fled the scene.
He was treated at the scene for injuries to his hand, buttocks and pelvis. He was then transported to an area hospital for additional treatment.
Investigating officers collected evidence at the scene and arrested 50-year-old Louis Avellino, of Castleton. He has been charged with Reckless Endangerment 2nd-degree, Reckless Driving, Assault 3rd-degree, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident and improper lane usage.
