ALBANY, N.Y. - Polling places are open from noon to 9 p.m. Thursday for the 2012 New York State Primary Elections.

There are some contentious races in the Capital Region NEWS10 ABC will be following on Thursday. Here is a run down of Thursday night's elections:

Albany County District Attorney: Democratic incumbent David Soares is battling Lee Kindlon. The winner in this primary race will win the office since no Republican entered the race for Albany County DA. 

State Senate District 43: Republican incumbent Roy McDonald is in a heated race with challenger Kathleen Marchione. The two have traded jabs in several attack ads that have appeared on TV.

State Senate District 44: Democratic State Senator Neil Breslin is up against Democratic challenger Shawn Morse. The winner of this race will likely go on to take the election in November. There is no Republican in the race.
