COHOES, N.Y. - When it comes to commemorating the anniversary of September 11th, people have countless ways of doing so across the country, but Tuesday night in Cohoes it was done through music by a victim's cousin.
Frank Jaklitsch says no matter how many years go by it is important that people never forget. It's through song that Jaklitsch commemorates 9/11 every year in honor of his cousin, Erwin Erker who was in Tower One that day.
Erker was 41-years-old at the time, with a wife and two children.
Jaklitsch says that he made a promise to his cousin on the day he died that he would put the show on every year.
Jaklitsch's music also has meaning for more people than just his family members. Jason Geary of the Cohoes Fire Department was one of the first responders in New York City after the attacks.
Geary spoke to the audience, choking up at times, not only about that day, but how important it is to still remember11 years later.
Jaklitsch says donations they received Tuesday night will go towards purchasing a plaque in memory of Erker that will remain inside this church.
