SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - The victim of an assault on State Street in Schenectady on Thursday night has died, police said Friday.
Schenectady police say the assault happened in the area of 1255 State Street around 9 p.m. when two men beat the victim, 43-year-old Harold Gotti, of Schenectady, causing unknown injuries.
Gotti died at Ellis Hospital Friday morning. Police say the cause of death is unknown at this time and an autopsy has been scheduled for Saturday.
No arrests have been made. Police say they are searching for the two suspects involved in the assault.
The block on State Street was closed off after the incident Thursday night as police question neighbors.
