ALBANY, N.Y. - The Lark Street Business Improvement District announced that alcoholic beverages will not be allowed to be brought into this year's LarkFEST.
LarkFEST is scheduled for September 15th from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
The "No Cooler" policy, made in conjunction with the City of Albany, will be similar to the changes made to Alive at Five and the Tulip Festival.
Attendees will be able to purchase alcoholic beverages, purchased from establishments on Lark Street with an official event cup.
"It is our hope that this change will improve everyone's enjoyment and help to maintain the integrity of this special event," said Christopher Schloss, Chair of the BID Board. "LarkFEST has been going through some changes over the past couple of years and we are confident that this initiative will make it even better."
Police and volunteers will be stationed at each entry point of the festival to ensure compliance with the new rules.
"LarkFEST is about people enjoying music, shopping, and having fun in one of the most eclectic and exciting neighborhoods in Albany. That's how we want to keep it," said Schloss.
