QUEENSBURY, N.Y. -- Funeral services were held Tuesday for the Queensbury teenager who died last week from a still unknown infection.

Johnathan Vasiliou died last Tuesday after a brief, unknown illness.

Bacterial meningitis was suspected at first, but then ruled out after testing by the New York State Department of Health.

Vasiliou is remembered as being incredibly active in his community and school, the starting center for the varsity football team, and as a member of both the student senate and quiz bowl team.

His teammates served Tuesday as his pallbearers.

Last Saturday, Queensbur played their first varsity football game of the season, which each player wearing Vasiliou's number "56" emblazoned on their helmet.
