SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - A woman whose
9-year-old daughter was kidnapped, raped and slashed to death 22 years
ago in South Dakota says she's raised enough money to attend the
convicted killer's execution.
Tina Curl moved to Lake
Luzerne, N.Y., shortly after Becky O'Connell's death in May 1990. Curl
and her husband, Dave, say they needed help raising funds for the trip
because they're surviving on $720-a-month disability checks.
Curl says publicity of her
predicament brought in more than the needed $4,000, with donations from
as far away as Chicago and Alaska.
Authorities say Moeller
kidnapped O'Connell from a Sioux Falls convenience store, drove her to a
secluded area near the Big Sioux River, then raped and killed her.
The execution is scheduled for the week of Oct. 28-Nov 3.
