SCHAGHTICOKE, N.Y. - A Mechanicville couple claims their 2-year-old daughter was bitten by a camel while visiting the Schaghticoke Fair's petting zoo over the weekend.
Michael and Amanda Carbone say their 2-year-old daughter Ellie is now on preventative antibiotics after a camel she was feeding bit her finger leaving a scratch.
The Carbone's say the wound may look small, but the little girl's father had to pry open the camel's mouth to release its grip on his daughter's hand.
Ellie was treated at the fair's first aid tent after the incident.
The manager of the fair, Mary Haynes, says she spoke with the Carbone's by phone to investigate what happened.
Haynes says all protocol appears to have been followed and the petting zoo has a clean record.
