ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Documents obtained by The Associated Press show women staffers of Assemblyman Vito Lopez had originally sought $1.2 million in damages before Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver negotiated a $103,000 settlement.
The e-mails also show Lopez paid $32,000 more into the June settlement.
The records also show staff from the Attorney General's Office and state Comptroller's Office exchanging three drafts of the private settlement over several days.
Silver is being pressured in the deal which headlines have called a cover-up.
