ROTTERDAM JUNCTION, N.Y. - Christine Witts and her father Bill were speechless as they looked at a photo of their flooded street on Wednesday.

"Terrible, heart breaking," said Christine.

The photo is one of dozens of snap shots captured from Tropical Storm Irene, and now on display at Mabee Farm Historic Site in Schenectady.

"People just lived this history recently and there is a lot of emotion with that. A lot of people are back in their houses but there is also still a lot of rebuilding to go. This exhibit touches people directly," said curator Ryan Mahoney.

As part of the exhibit, a speical documentary film about Tropical Storm Irene also premiered Wednesday. The community said it's not about destruction, but inspiration.

"Thank you Irene, for bringing us back together to be a family again," said one flood victim.

Outside Mabee Farm it was celebration mode, as kids played and adults grilled.

A number of the families in attendance at the one-year flood anniversary celebration lost everything.

"We got flooded pretty bad, most of our stuff got lost, it was pretty upsetting, I had nightmares for about three months after that, it was pretty hard," said 11-year-old Bonnie Allen.

Allen said depsite all the devestation, people in the Junction are resilent and still know how to have fun. "I like to look at the good side of things, no one died or got hurt, so I like to look at the bright side," said Allen.
