SCHENECTADY, N.Y. - A Schenectady woman was arraigned in County Court Monday morning after police say she stabbed her boyfriend in the chest, killing him.

Police say a 911 call came in from the couple's residence at 1512 VanVranken Avenue, Apartment #1, around 11 p.m. Sunday night, reporting that 51-year-old Adrian King had been stabbed.

Upon arrival, King was found bleeding from an apparent stab wound to the chest. He was treated at the scene by members of the Schenectady Fire Department and was transported to Ellis Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

King's girlfriend, 49-year-old Jacqueline Smalls, has been charged with first-degree manslaughter in connection to his death.

Police tell NEWS10 they believe it was a domestic violence incident that spun out of control. Officers say they had responded to the couple's residence in the past for reports of domestic incidents.

Neighbors say they cannot believe Smalls is capable of this crime, and that the couple always seemed to get along.

One neighbor tells NEWS10 Smalls claimed someone else had stabbed her boyfriend.

Two other people were in the apartment when police arrived Sunday night who were questioned.

The incident is still under investigation by members of the Detective Division and Evidence Collection Unit.

Smalls has been remanded to the Schenectady County Jail without bail.
