TROY, N.Y. - Troy Police are continuing to investigate a homicide inside Building 4 of the Taylor Apartments that happened on Sunday.

Authorities said the body of a 38-year-old Scott Danker, of an unknown address, was found in the stairwell between the first and second floor. Police tell NEWS10 a tenant of the building spotted the body around 1:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon and called 911.

An autopsy was completed Tuesday morning, showing the cause of death to be trauma due to gunshot wounds. Police have not released the number of shots nor the exact location of trauma.

There have been no arrests in connection to the death of Danker at this time.

Jose Maldonado said he lives on the second floor of the building with his two children. He told NEWS10 he was home at the time of the shooting but did not hear any gunshots.

"It's considered to be a safe building, there's a first time for everything," Maldonado said.

Police said the victim, who is not a resident of the apartments, had been shot once but declined to say if they had any suspects or what a possible motive may be.

Other tenants said they are noticing crime is on the rise in this Troy Housing Authority complex.

Arthur Browne said his mother had lived in the building for more than 30 years, and he is now concerned for her safety. "There's so much stuff going on, robberies in the building and people's safety just is not there," he said.

This is the seventh homicide in Troy this year.

Police asking anyone with information on this latest murder to contact their department.
