SCOTIA, N.Y. - The 48-year-old owner of the Camp Mohawk Valley Ski School has been arrested after a July 31st incident on the Mohawk River, the Scotia Police Department says.

Joseph Serth, of Pattersonville, was arrested Friday following an investigation in which a 51-year-old woman alleges that Serth flooded her canoe by intentionally driving his motorboat close to her vessel, creating a large wake.

The incident occurred at about 5 p.m. when police say Serth drove his boat close to the victim's canoe and created a large wake that flooded her vessel. Serth then supposedly turned his boat around and drove toward the victim at a high rate of speed before making a sharp turn next to her canoe, causing water to strike her and her vessel. According to police the victim reported that Serth had previously told her that she didn't belong on the river when he's on it.

Serth is charged with Reckless Endangerment 2nd- degree, Harassment 1st-degree, Reckless Operation of a Vessel and Reckless Operation/Speed on the Canal System.
