ALBANY, N.Y. - The American Red Cross Northeastern New York is sending another local volunteer to Florida to assist with preparedness and relief operations set up in anticipation of Tropical Storm Isaac.

Alan Hodges, of Latham, has been a Red Cross volunteer for 30 years and will leave Friday afternoon to work in the area of Tampa, Florida helping prepare for Tropical Storm Isaac, expected to hit early next week.

Isaac could bring strong winds gusting as high as 75 mph and 4 to 8 inches of rain. The American Red Cross is helping prepare individuals and communities in the path of the storm, while taking steps to respond in Florida if needed. They help identifying available shelters, assembling disaster teams, and coordinating with government and community partner.

Hodges, is a longtime volunteer with experience on several national disaster deployments such as Hurricane Katrina, West Virginia flooding, Springfield tornado, and last year's response in upstate NY to Hurricane Irene, Tropical Storm Lee and the Vermont flooding.
