ALBANY, N.Y. - Albany County District Attorney says a 20-year-old Albany man was indicted Tuesday by a grand jury for the sexual assault of an 8-year-old boy.

Walter Cleveland was arraigned Wednesday morning on four counts of Predatory Sexual Assault Against a Child, four counts of Criminal Sexual Act 1st-degree, two counts of Attempted Criminal Sexual Act 1st-degree, and one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

Soares said on August 14th, Cleveland intentionally committed predatory sexual assault and committed forced sexual acts against the 8-year-old boy near Lincoln Park in Albany.

Albany County District Attorney David Soares said the evidence against Cleveland was strong since two witnesses spotted it

"The eyewitnesses were children and noticed what was happening and immediately reached out to police and the police responded very quickly and were able to catch this defendent in the act," Soares said.

He is currently in custody and pleaded guilty to all eleven counts against him Wednesday in Albany County Court.

The judge set Cleveland's bail for $100,000 and ordered a psychiatric evaulation. Cleveland faces up to 25 years behind bars.

Police say there are likely more victims.

Anyone who has information regarding inappropriate contact between Cleveland and any child is asked to please call the Albany Police Detective Division at (518) 462-8039.
