GLOVERSVILLE, N.Y. - Police in Gloversville have arrested a man they say is responsible for burglary at a local Salvation Army, thanks to blood left at the scene.
Police say 27-year-old Mitchell Swart, of Gloversville, was arrested Monday morning after an investigation into a reported burglary at the Salvation Army on Spring Street in November 2011.
During the investigation, detectives secured blood samples left at the scene by the suspect. The samples were sent to the New York State Police Crime Lab where analysis matched the blood samples to the DNA profile of Swart, whose DNA was already on file.
Swart is charged with Burglary 3rd-degree, a felony, Criminal Mischief 4th-degree and Petit Larceny, both misdemeanors.
