MIDDLEBURGH, NY - Troopers responded to a one car roll-over on State Route 30 at approximately 1:20 a.m. on Friday night.
An unoccupied vehicle was located approximately one hundred feet off of the roadway, in a corn field.
A search of the area revealed that the driver had fled into the field, but that his passenger, 41-year-old Frank W. McDonnell of Middleburgh, was a short distance away from the scene suffering from apparent head trauma.
McDonnell was airlifted to the Albany Medical Center for treatment.
Cobleskill troopers, with the assistance of an Environmental Conservation Police K-9 unit, located the driver, 21-year-old Johnnie D. Brown III of Middleburgh, after a thorough search of the surrounding fields.
Brown was charged with DWI as well as numerous vehicle and traffic violations.
Further charges are pending.
Brown was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to return to Cobleskill Town Court on August 29th.
