GUILDERLAND, N.Y. - A missing cockatiel that landed on a NYSP Cadet's head during live weapons training has been claimed.
Once state police released images of the bird on Wednesday, they received over thirty lost bird calls from as far away as Missouri and Virginia.
The Capital Region Parrot Society was called to the NYSP Training Academy Friday to assist in substantiating whether the evidence provided by one Schenectady family could prove whether the bird was their lost cockatiel or not.
After an investigation it was determined that it's highly likely the bird is indeed the Schenectady family's pet which went missing on Sunday.
The bird, known as "Rocko," was returned to Jenny Ramsundar, at the
State Police Academy Friday afternoon after flying from its home in
Schenectady.
