ALBANY, N.Y. - From August 17th through September 3rd, state police will be holding the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign as part of the national crackdown on impaired driving.
During this enforcement, police will be conducting a variety of enhanced enforcement
activities, including checkpoints and blanket patrols.
Thousands
of police agencies nationwide will be participating with cracking down on one of the most
serious highway and public health concerns, alcohol and drug impaired
driving.
In 2010, the latest year for which statistics are
available, 354 people were killed in alcohol-related crashes in New
York State and over 10,000 nationally. Of those 354 killed in New York,
163 were not the drinking driver.
