Missing cockatiel bird makes its way to state police training

GUILDERLAND, N.Y. - If you have recently lost a cockatiel in the area of the Town of Guilderland, please contact the New York State Police Academy.

On Tuesday, members of the 198th Session of the New York State Police Academy were attending firearms training at the Guilderland Range on Grant Hill Road in the Town of Guilderland, when a cockatiel flew into the range area and landed on the hat of an Academy recruit.

Unfazed by gunfire and the recruits wearing bullet-proof vests, the cockatiel was taken into custody by the State Police Firearms Instructors, and is being held for safe keeping.
