GREENPORT, NY - State Police at Livingston investigated a car-pedestrian accident Tuesday on Fairview Avenue in the Columbia County Town of Greenport.
Police say at 3:56 p.m. a vehicle operated by 51-year-old Jeffrey Rindler, of Hollowville, was northbound on Fairview Avenue when a 14-year-old female pedestrian attempted to cross the road.
According to police the girl ran into the side of the northbound vehicle. She was taken to Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson by Greenport Rescue Squad and then transferred to Albany Medical Center by medflight and admitted in critical condition with head trauma.
The vehicle's operator was uninjured. No charges are expected at present.
