S. Glens Falls woman accused of abusing infant

SOUTH GLENS FALLS, N.Y. - The South Glens Falls Police Department says they have arrested a 19-year-old pregnant woman who police say admitted to abusing her 7-month-old baby.

Police say Krystal Berg, a resident of the Clear View Motel in South Glens Falls, intentionally injured her 7-month-old son and subsequently failed to care for him once injured. Police say the infant suffered a fractured right arm as well as bruising to the face and neck.

Police say Berg's own father, the baby's grandfather, contacted police afraid for the child's welfare during a visit to the Clear View Motel where Berg lives with her son and boyfriend.

The baby's grandfather tells NEWS10 he is seeking custody of the child.

The infant was taken to Glens Falls Hospital after the incident, and is still receiving treatment.

Berg has been charged with Assault 2nd-degree, a felony, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a misdemeanor. She has been remanded to the Saratoga County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 bail bond.

Police say the investigation is continuing and additional charges are possible.
