LATHAM, N.Y. - New York State Police troopers who oversee the Capital Region have new headquarters in Latham.
State Police Troop G moved their home to 760 Troy-Schenectady Road in Latham Wednesday with an official opening ceremony at 7 a.m.
The new complex will house named "State Police Headquarters" will hold administrative, investigative, training, and support
facilities for State Police operations in the multi-county region of Troop G,
which includes Albany, Fulton, Hamilton, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga,
Schenectady, Schoharie, Warren, and Washington counties.
The campus, built on 42 acres of land, will be composed of the main administrative building of
approximately 85,000-square-feet and a vehicle maintenance
building approximately 30,000-square-feet in size.
The
State Legislature approved the sale of the old building to Siena College in
2003, and the new site was selected in May of 2006.
