QUEENSBURY, N.Y. - The Warren County Sheriff's Office is getting a clearer picture of what happened Monday afternoon during a deadly domestic dispute on Bay Road in Queensbury.

One man died and two other people were injured, but police are still ruling the motive to be self-defense. Wedesday, the Sheriff's Office says following an autopsy it was determined 67-year-old Ralph Runnalls was struck a total of eight times to his head, torso and upper extremities. His final cause of death was a gun shot wound to the head.

Crime scene tape remains at the foot of the driveway of 1172 Bay Road, the driveway where police say Runnalls drove down with a .357 magnum revolver. Homeowners Paul Wells and 43-year-old Jacqueline Keegan were inside with their 18-year-old son having a family meeting.

Police say Runnalls fired three rounds from a the revolver, and Wells fired back with a .32 caliber semi-automatic pistol and a .22 caliber 9-shot revolver.

Police say both men who fired shots did not have pistol permits, and say a total of 22 shots were fired.

It is unclear whether homicide charges are likely in the incident, as police believe self defense appears to be the motive for the shooting.

Katie Ferullo owns the Discoveries gun shop in Warrensburg and makes the point that the incident sheds a bad light on the 2nd Amendment.

Police say a love triangle between Runnalls, Wells and Keegan prompted the dispute, but at this time Wells will not be charged.

An autopsy is being performed on Runnalls at Albany Medical Center.
