SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - Some pricey thoroughbreds up for sale in Saratoga Springs Monday and Tuesday night during the annual sales event at Fasig-Tipton.
This year marks the 92nd annual yearling sales at the Fasig-Tipton Sales Pavillion, bringing the biggest names in horse racing to Saratoga Springs. Nearly 200 yearlings will be highlighted during the two-day sale.
Sales on Monday totaled $13.59 million, with some thoroughbreds auctioning for over $1 million each.
The event draws some big names to the area including celebrity chef Bobby Flay, who tells NEWS10 he will be on hand for the auction.
"It's the Fasig-Tipton, beautiful place, beautiful horses, but expensive," Flay said. "I hope I don't have too much champagne and start raising my hand!"
Flay says the Saratoga Race Course is a special place for him, and has been coming here ever since he was 12-years-old.
