SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY –Two major stakes races were on the schedule at the
Saratoga Race Course on Saturday.
People from all over the country went to the race track for the Grade 1
stakes races.
The first of the big two races was the Prioress Stakes, a $300,000 race. It
was a close one down the stretch, but Emma's Encore won, giving legendary hall
of fame trainer Allen Jerkins another win. Jerkins has won 3,833 races in his
career.
Judy the Beauty and Agave Kiss rounded out the top three in the Prioress
Stakes.
The second big race was the 85th running of the historic Whitney
Invitational, a $750,000 race.
Fort Larned captured his first Grade 1 race under Jockey Brian Hernandez
Junior.
Mary Lou Whitney was also there to hand out the trophy.
Iron the Greek came in second place and Flat Out came in third.
Whether a jockey or a fan, it was a great day to be at the track.
