ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Gov.
Andrew Cuomo has mobilized state agencies to help fight a fire involving
sodium, diesel fuel, propane and mineral oil at a disposal facility 25
miles south of Albany.
So far, 40 homes have been
evacuated in a one-mile radius and environmental officials are analyzing
ash and the air to determine if there's a threat.
The fire at TCI Inc. at an industrial park in the town of Ghent began Wednesday night.
The company disposes of electrical equipment.
Several fire departments have responded and the state has provided truck to pour foam on the blaze.
Residents within 15 miles
of the smoky plume tracking eastward toward Massachusetts are asked to
remain indoors, close windows and shut off air conditioners.
Anyone experiencing eye irritation or difficulty breathing should seek medical attention.
