Owners, trainers have some friendly competition before stakes race

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY. - Some horse owners and a well-known trainer are talking friendly competition and rivalry before their horses compete in the $100,000 Birdstone Stakes race Thursday.

Owners Bob Krangle, Stuart Sackowitz and David Greiger will be racing their prize horse 'Hello Lover' against 'Pleasant Prince,' one of the horses Bruce Brown has been training during the 6th race.

NEWS10 caught the group in the barn area teasing each other about why their horse will win; but, ultimately they say the rivalry is all in good fun.

"We're just having a friendly chat," Krangle said. "There are a couple horses you put on the track and you try to do the best that you can."

"In this game, the horses settle it on the track," Brown said. "Most of the people in this game are very friendly with each other. It's like the old days. Everybody has a horse, you put it on the track and you settle it out there."

Post time for the $100,000 Birdstone Stakes race is approximately 3:49 p.m. It's the 6th race of the day.
