Five arrested for alleged home invasion in Columbia County

STUYVESANT, N.Y. - State police have arrested five individuals for allegedly stealing items from a home while bounding the residents with duct tape early Thursday morning.

State police responded to the home at 11 County Route 25A in the Town of Stuyvesant relative to a home invasion complaint around 12:30 a.m.

Upon arrival it was learned that four male individuals entered the residence and bound its occupants with duct tape while stealing items within the residence. Also at least one subject was armed with a knife, police say.

The Columbia County Sheriff Department searched the area and located five suspects: 23-year-old Frederick Williams of Hudson, 24-year-old Jeremy Cobbins of Hudson, 20-year-old Miguel Alcarex of Hudson, 26-year-old Joseph Speed of Hudson and 20-year-old Bobby Smith of Hudson.

All five men have been charged with Burglary 1st-degtree and remanded to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of no bail. Williams was additionally charged with Reckless Endangerment 1st for allegedly attempting to strike a responding Columbia County Sheriff's Deputy with his vehicle.
