WATERFORD, N.Y. -- Waterford police say they have made an arrest in a Tuesday afternoon bank robbery in the town.

The robbery occurred around 2:20 p.m. at the Pioneer Savings Bank on Saratoga Avenue.

Police said a man wearing a black hoodie, bandana, and sunglasses approached a teller at that time, demanding money. The man then left the bank on foot, heading west on Van Ness Street. No weapon was displayed.

The Waterford Police Department's investigation lead them to the City of Troy, where an arrest was made around 7:15 p.m.

With the help of the Troy Police Department, they arrested 43-year old Tad E. Baldwin, of Bells Lane in Waterford. Police said they recovered an unknown amount of cash during Baldwin's arrest.

Baldwin has been charged with robbery and grand larceny.

Police in Troy were able to track down a suspect vehicle involved with the robbery. They said upon stopping the vehicle, two men fled on foot. Both were apprehended quickly. One of them was Baldwin. The other man, 51-year old Brian E. Monahan, of Glenwood Road in Troy, was arrested by city police and charged with 2nd degree obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest, and possession of a hypodermic instrument, all misdemeanors.

Baldwin is set to be arraigned in Waterford Town Court and remanded to the Saratoga County Jail, according to police there.
