Man charged with vehicular manslaughter in death of Saratoga County teen


MILTON, N.Y. - A 21-year-old Saratoga County man has been charged with Vehicular Manslaughter after claiming the life of a teen while allegedly driving drunk.

Tuesday the Saratoga County Sheriff's says Gavin Staulters will be charged with one count of Vehicular Manslaughter 2nd-degree for the death of 14-year-old Kari Liedel, a Ballston Spa High School student, on the night of July 7th.

Staulters, a part-time member of the Air National Guard and Ballston Spa High School graduate, was traveling southbound on West Milton Road around 8:33 p.m. He has also been charged with driving while intoxicated.

Family members says Liedel was walking to her uncle's house when she was killed that night.

Staulters was arraigned in the Town of Milton Court and released on $5,000 cash/$10,000 bond.
