HEBRON, NY – A man was pronounced dead after a drunk driver struck his car Sunday morning in the Town of Hebron.

The accident happened on State Route 22 in the Town of Hebron between Chamberlin Mills and Pine Hill Road.

A 2010 Toyota Tacoma pick-up, operated by 29-year-old Cassie E. Earley, struck a southbound vehicle operated by 83-year-old Vincent J. Muro.

The impact caused Muro's vehicle to roll over, trapping both him and his passenger Ann Rigg inside of the vehicle. Muro and Rigg were extricated by fire personnel using the Jaws of Life. Both were transported to Rutland Regional Hospital where Muro was pronounced dead, and Rigg was examined.

After being interviewed by responding deputies, Earley was taken into custody for driving while intoxicated.  She was not injured in the crash.

She was charged with failing to keep right, driving while intoxicated and vehicular manslaughter 2nd degree.

She was processed and arraigned before Justice Robert Buck in the Town of Argyle court and remanded to the Washington County Correctional facility.

The case is still under investigation.

The Hebron and Salem fire departments, along with Salem and Granville rescue squads, were on scene.
