ALBANY, NY – Hannaford supermarkets advises customers not to eat a specified cantaloupe after it was recalled.
Burch Farms of North Carolina announced a recall of Athena cantaloupes on Saturday because the product may contain listeria monocytogenes.
Listeria has the potential to cause serious illness.
Fortunately no illnesses have been reported with this recall so far.
Hannaford says the product has been removed from shelves. They are asking that customers return the item to stores or dispose of the item and return the sticker for a full refund.
