TROY, NY – Two Troy parents were arrested after police say they were caught stealing baby formula with their infant on Friday.

23-year-old Marcella Schaeffer and 27-year-old Abraham Rone gave police separate home addresses in Troy but say they have a four-month-old infant together.

Store detectives say they watched Schaeffer and Rone take their infant child to a store as they both picked up baby formula containers and hid them in the baby stroller. Together the parents hid the containers under the baby and in the cargo space of the baby stroller.

The couple then casually walked to the checkout counter and made a small purchase before leaving the store with almost $200 worth of stolen Enfamil Premium Baby Formula containers.

A Patrolman stopped Schaeffer and Rone in the parking lot and arrested them.

Schaeffer and Rone were charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child and five acts of larceny.

Store detectives say now that they have positive identification of Schaeffer and Rone, they have witnessed four prior acts of larceny by them both.

Schaeffer and Rone were arraigned and remanded to County Jail on bail of $2,500. Their child is in protective care from Child Protective Services.
