ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - New York Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver's campaign says it found errors in investment income reported in past financial reports that push the total campaign fund up by about $400,000.
The Friends of Silver campaign on July 15 reported it had $2.8 million.
But the campaign now says continued correction of financial filings shows more revenue from dividends and interest on roughly $2 million in investments. The corrections bring the total campaign fund to $3.2 million.
A Silver campaign spokesman says the error was compounded over several years. It was reported to the Board of Elections when discovered.
Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos' Republican campaign has about $2 million invested.
Good-government advocates say the investments, first reported by The Associated Press Wednesday, create possible conflicts and an unfair advantage.
