GLENVILLE, N.Y. - New York State Police have identified the body recovered from the Mohawk River in the Town of Glenville.
41-year-old Richard Bennett, from Galway, is the driver who fled from a traffic stop in the area of State Route 5 and State Route 103 on Thursday night.
On Friday at approximately 10:30 a.m., Bennett's body was pulled from the river just west of Lock 9.
An autopsy was performed at Ellis Hospital and the cause of death was determined to be asphyxia due to drowning. The death was ruled accidental.
Toxicology results are pending.
