Local teen's fundraising efforts bring vets together with their families

Posted:

BRUNSWICK, N.Y. - A bus full of veterans and their children traveled to Lake Placid on Wednesday for a day of family bonding all courtesy of one selfless local teen.

55 passengers boarded the bus Wednesday, including 16-year-old Matt Murray, a Boy Scout from Brunswick.

Murray, a junior at Tamarac High School, organized the whole day trip through an organization he founded called Operation: PATH (Parents And Teens Hanging).

Operation: PATH brings together veterans with loved ones who get few opportunities to spend quality time together because of the military lifestyle.

He said the trip was made possible by funding from family, community groups, and politicians. His goal was to raise $5,000, but Murray was able to raise $6,000 for the trip.
