WHITEHALL, N.Y. - State police say a 76-year-old man died Wednesday morning when a minivan he was driving struck a log truck in Whitehall.
Police say the accident happened at the intersection of Route 4 and Beckwith Road around 6:20 a.m. Wednesday when the minivan drove across Route 4 and the log truck, heading westbound, struck the driver's side of the van.
According to police, the elderly driver failed to yield to the right of way, and the driver of the truck attempted to avoid the van but was unable to.
The victim's wife was in the van with him, as well, and suffered injuries. She was taken to Glens Falls Hospital and is expected to survive.
The man's name has not been released at this time pending notification of family.
