Teens accused of larceny, vandalism at New Lebanon church

NEW LEBANON, NY – Two teens were arrested on Monday for alleged larceny and vandalism at a New Lebanon church.

State Police were contacted on Monday morning after a volunteer noticed damaged in the shrine at the Catholic Church of the Immaculate Conception located on Route 20.

Acting on a lead, police arrested two 14-year-old teens. Investigation revealed that overnight the teens allegedly ruined over 80 candles, stole change from a reflecting pool, and damaged the offering box in an attempt to steal money inside.

The teens were charged with Petit Larceny, Attempted Petit Larceny, and two counts of Criminal Mischief 4^th Degree. Due to their ages, they were released to their parents and issued appearance tickets to appear in the Columbia County Family Court.
