NEW LEBANON, NY – Two teens were arrested on Monday for alleged
larceny and vandalism at a New Lebanon church.
State Police were contacted on Monday morning after a
volunteer noticed damaged in the shrine at the Catholic Church of the Immaculate
Conception located on Route 20.
Acting on a lead, police arrested two 14-year-old teens. Investigation
revealed that overnight the teens allegedly ruined over 80 candles, stole change from a
reflecting pool, and damaged the offering box in an attempt to steal money
inside.
The teens were charged with Petit Larceny, Attempted Petit
Larceny, and two counts of Criminal Mischief 4th Degree. Due to
their ages, they were released to their parents and issued appearance tickets to
appear in the Columbia County Family Court.
