There is a tattoo on the left bicep of a heart with writing and initials below it. It appears to read “George Loves Linda” with the letters TA or TLA below it.
SELKIRK, N.Y. - Bethlehem Police are investigating a body that was found in a wooded area of Selkirk on Sunday evening.
Authorities say an unidentified middle-aged male body was found around 6:30 p.m. about 30 yards off Route 9W, south of Route 396, after two people passing by the area saw the body and called the police.
Police are asking for the public's help in identifying the man. He is thought to be a white male, between the ages of 40-60, 5'5''-5'9'', medium build, reddish-grey hair, unshaven, with two homemade tattoos that read "George Loves Linda" on his upper left arm and "TA" or "TLA" on his lower left arm. He was wearing black size 9 Vans sneakers, tan socks, LL Bean jeans size 37'' x 29'', black leather belt and black leather banded analog watch.
Authorities say autopsy results on the cause of death were inconclusive but say it looks as though death was from natural causes, as no trauma was found.
The body was found in "an advanced state of decomposition" and authorities believe the body has been in the area for about six months.
Neighbors of the area tell NEWS10 there are old abandoned homes that transients seem to use in the back of the property where the body was found.
The State Police and District Attorney's Office are working with Bethlehem Police to investigate this case.
