SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY - Sunday was the 21st Annual
Saratoga Race Course Hat Contest.
Track patrons wore their fanciest headwear to celebrate a
long standing tradition and the final day of opening weekend. The contest dates
back more than 20 years.
Contestants ranged from children to adults and the contest
consisted of three different categories which were "Uniquely Saratoga," "Fashionably
Saratoga," and "Kreative Kids."
Julie Potter, of Duanesburg, was crowed winner of "Uniquely
Saratoga." Potter received a grand prize of a $500 betting voucher, a $100 gift
card to the Gideon Putnam Resort and Spa, and a silver trophy.
Veronica Martin, of Great Barrington, MA, won the "Fashionably
Saratoga" award. She was awarded a $100 betting voucher, a $100 gift card to
the Gideon Putnam Resort and Spa, and a silver trophy.
The "Kreative Kids" award was awarded to Camryn Dunn, of
Clearwater, Florida. Camryn was in town to visit her grandparents from Latham.
She received a price of a $50 gift card to the Gideon Putnam Resort and Spa and
an oversized Saratoga Race Course chocolate bar.

The annual Hat Contest is the highlight of the three-day "Hats
Off to Saratoga" festival.
