WATERFORD, NY – Naturalists got a first-hand view of the area's wildlife on Saturday for Hudson River Day.
The event took place at Peebles Island State Park in Waterford.
Naturalists used seine nets to capture live fish from the Hudson River. Seining involves pulling a net through shallow water near shore. Visitors were also offered the chance to get their hands wet and help catch the fish, too.
The event was part of a program to educate the public on the diversity of fish species in the Hudson River.
