AMSTERDAM, NY – Montgomery County Sheriff's Deputies
arrested a man after he attempted to stab another man at an Amsterdam business.
On Thursday, the sheriff's office received a complaint of a
man chasing and attempting to stab another man at a Route 30 business.
The suspect had fled on foot upon arrival of deputies. However
deputies were able to locate the suspect a short distance away. Deputies say
the suspect discarded several pieces of identifiable clothing and a knife he
had used in his attempt to escape police. Also, video surveillance at the
business where the incident occurred had the entire event filmed.
Juan Carlos Rivera, 46, of McClellan Road was arrested and
charged with Menacing 1st Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon
3rd Degree. He was arraigned in the Town of Mohawk Court and
remanded to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office on $5,000 bail.
