Trinity Copeland's case to go to Grand Jury

TROY, N.Y. - The case against a Troy teen, who told police she shot and killed her father, will now go to a Grand Jury.

17-year-old Trinity Copeland was scheduled in Troy City Court on Tuesday, but the hearing was waived and the case referred to a Grand Jury at Rensselaer County Court.

Copeland is charged with second-degree Murder. In a police report obtained by NEWS10, Copeland admits to killing her father, Harlan Copeland, early Friday morning as he sat on his couch inside their home on Seventh Avenue.

Authorities say the shooting stemmed from an argument after Copeland used her father's ATM card without his permission.
