Cocaine sale leads to state prison

ALBANY, N.Y. - Albany County District Attorney David Soares announced that 26-year-old Santos Vellon, Jr., of Albany, pleaded guilty to Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 3rd-degree in Albany County Court Tuesday.

Vellon faces eight years determinate in state prison to be followed by two years of post-release supervision when sentenced on September 14, 2012. In addition to incarceration Vellon's assets from the crime were forfeited in the amount of $337,720. 

In February 2012, Vellon sold over 100 grams of cocaine in the rear of a Loudon Plaza business at 350 Northern Blvd in the City of Albany. Upon search of the defendant's vehicle investigators uncovered an additional 330 grams of power cocaine as well as 30 grams of crack cocaine. The exchange was captured on video.
