Albany man faces prison for crack possession

ALBANY, NY - District Attorney P. David Soares today announced that Terrance Johnson, 42, of Albany, pleaded guilty to (1) Count of Attempted Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree, a Class C Felony, before Honorable Judge Thomas Breslin in Albany County Court today. 

Johnson faces 5 ½ years determinate in State Prison to be followed by (2) years of post-release supervision when sentenced on August 16, 2012.

On December 29, 2011, Johnson was pulled over for a vehicle and traffic stop in the City of Albany.  The NYSP Trooper who pulled Johnson over detected a strong smell of marijuana and a subsequent search of the defendant's vehicle uncovered loose marijuana and over one-half ounce of crack cocaine.

Assistant District Attorney Sean Childs of the Street Crimes Unit is handling the prosecution of this case.
