Five new Schenectady police recruits announced

SCHENECTADY, NY – Schenectady Mayor Gary McCarthy will introduce and swear-in five new police recruits on Tuesday.

The recruits will be sworn in at a ceremony in the Rotunda at City Hall.

The officers will enter the Zone 5 Law Enforcement Training Academy on Wednesday for six months of basic training. The training will be followed by 12 weeks of Department supervised field training.

The new officers are:

- Duane D. Bechand, 34, currently resides in Schenectady

- Bradley R. Carlton, 24, currently resides in Schenectady

- Michael V. Gailor, 27, currently resides in Saratoga Springs

- Jared M. Jupin, 25, currently resides in Schenectady

- Teodoro Popolizio, 27, currently resides in Schenectady
