GLENS FALLS, N.Y. - A man in Warren County was arrested for allegedly lying to police about a woman's drug use when she refused to be his girlfriend.
On Friday, the Warren County Sheriff's Office arrested 24-year-old Jason Santos, of Glens Falls, on a misdemeanor charge of falsely reporting an incident.
The arrest comes after Santos made two false reports to the New York
Statewide Central Registry of Child Abuse and Maltreatment alleging that a
female acquaintance was using illegal drugs and was not able to
care for her 2-year old child.
The
reports were forwarded to Child Protective
Services for an investigation that spanned several days and revealed that
Santos had
fabricated the report because he was angry with the female for refusing to be
his girlfriend.
Santos is on Parole following a 2009 criminal
mischief conviction, and was remanded to the Warren County Correctional
Facility as a result of this charge.
