
TROY, NY – Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute was ranked fourth on "The World's Best Engineering Schools" list by Business Insider.
RPI, located in Troy, was ranked fourth among 50 engineering schools among the world. RPI outranked Cornell University, Georgia Tech, Harvard University, and Princeton University.
The schools were chosen from survey results taken by 723 respondents. 91 % of the respondents had degrees in computer science, engineering, or equivalent to that. The survey rated how valuable degrees were to future careers of graduated.
Key employers of RPI graduates are IBM, Cisco Systems, Intel, Microsoft, and Oracle.
Dean of the School of Engineering David Rosowsky says their programs are held in "very high esteem among the academic and scientific communities." He adds that the ranking is evidence of the value placed on their programs by the companies that hire their graduates.
