TROY, N.Y. - Will the second time at bat bring a guilty verdict in the Troy voter fraud case?
The re-trial of former Councilman Michael LoPorto began Wednesday with opening statements. LoPorto is accused of taking part in a Democratic Party Scheme to win the 2009 Working Families Party primary for City Council. He's accused of delivering forged absentee ballots.
Two key figures in this case pleaded guilty last year for their roles and are expected to testify against LoPorto, in exchange for leniency in their sentences.
LoPorto's first trial with his co-defendant ended in a mistrial.
